Disassembly Process

ASUS N55 Series Notebook consists of various modules. This chapter describes the procedure for the complete notebook disassembly. In addition, in between procedures, the detailed disassembly procedure of individual modules will be provided for your needs.

The disassembly procedure consists of the following steps:

  • Battery Module
  • HDD Module
  • Memory Module
  • WLAN (WiFi) Module
  • ODD (optical drive disc) Module
  • Keyboard
  • Top Case Module
  • Motherboard
  • LCD Module
  • Bottom Case

Battery Module

The illustration below shows how to remove the battery module.

Remove Battery Module

1. Hold the battery latch toward the arrow to take the battery away.


2. Remove 1 screw on the mini door and take it away.

3. Disconnect the DC_IN cable.


HDD Module

The illustration shows how to remove the HDD Module.

Remove HDD Module

1. Remove 1 screw on the mini door and take it away.

 

2. Remove 4 screws on the HDD module.

3. Remove the HDD module toward the arrow.

4. And then lift up to take it away.

5. Remove 4 screws on the bracket.

6. Take the HDD away.


Memory Module

The illustrations below show how to remove the Memory Module from the notebook.

Remove Memory Module

1. Pull two latches here to pop the Memory module up at 45 angles, and then pull out the module at that angle.


WLAN (WiFi) Module

The illustrations below show how to remove the WLAN Module from the notebook.

Remove WLAN Module

1. Lift up to disconnect the WLAN antennas.

2. Remove 2 screws on the WLAN module, and then remove the module.

3. Disconnect the speaker cable.


ODD (Optical Drive Disc) Module

The illustration shows how to remove the ODD.

Remove ODD

1. Remove 1 screw on the bottom case.

2. Pull out and remove the ODD.


Keyboard Module

The illustrations below show how to remove and disassemble the Keyboard Module.

Remove the Keyboard Module

1. Remove 18 screws on the bottom case.

2. Remove the SD dummy card.

3. Use disassembly tool to pry up the KB cover.

4. Take the KB cover away.

5. Remove 4 screws on the keyboard.

6. Turn over the keyboard.

7. Disconnect the keyboard FPCs and take the keyboard away.


Top Case Module

The illustrations below show how to remove and disassemble the Top Case Module.

Remove the Top Case Module

1. Remove 6 screws on the top case.

2. Disconnect the TP FFC.

3. Use disassembly tool to pry up the sides of the top case. And then take it away.


Motherboard Module

The illustrations below show how to disassemble and remove the Motherboard Module.

Remove the Motherboard Module

1. Remove 3 screws on the main board and disconnect 3 cables.

2. Disconnect the LVDS cable and MB_IO FPC

3. Tear off 1 tape and disconnect the WTOB cable

4. Take the main board away.

5. Remove 8 screws on the thermal module.

6. Disconnect the thermal fan cable and take the thermal module away.

7. Turn the non-removable screw here 180 degrees counter-clockwise to loosen the CPU. Take the CPU away.

8. Remove 2 screws on the VGA board and take the board away


LCD Module

The illustrations below show how to remove and disassemble the LCD Module of the notebook.

Removing the LCD Module

1. Remove 4 screws on the LCD hinges.

3. Take the LCD module away.

4. Remove 2 rubber pads and 2 screws on LCD front bezel.

5. Use disassembly tool to pry up the edge of the bezel.

6. Continue to pry up the sides of the bezel. And take the LCD front bezel away.

7. Remove 6 screws on the LCD module.

8. Turn over the LCD panel.

9. Disconnect the LVDS cable.

10. Remove 4 screws on LCD hinges.
