Disassembly Process

ASUS N56 Series (N56VZ, N56DP, N56DY, N56JK, N56JN, N56JR, N56VB, N56VJ, N56VM, N56VV) Notebook consists of various modules. This chapter describes the procedure for the complete notebook disassembly. In addition, in between procedures, the detailed disassembly procedure of individual modules will be provided for your needs.

The disassembly procedure consists of the following steps:

  • Battery Module
  • HDD Module
  • Memory Module
  • ODD (Optical Drive Disc) Module
  • Top Case Module
  • WLAN (WiFi) Module
  • Thermal Module
  • Motherboard
  • CPU
  • LCD Module

Battery Module

The illustration below shows how to remove the battery module.

Remove Battery Module

1. Hold the battery latch toward the arrow to take the battery away


HDD Module

The illustration shows how to remove the HDD Module.

Remove HDD Module

1. Remove 1 rubber pad and 1 screw on the RAM door.

2. Remove the RAM door toward the arrow direction and take the door away.

3. Remove 2 screws on the HDD module. Remove the HDD module toward the arrow direction.

4. Remove 4 screws on the bracket.

6. Take the HDD away.


Memory Module

The illustrations below show how to remove the Memory Module from the notebook.

Remove Memory Module

1. Pull two latches here to pop the Memory module up at 45 angles, and then pull out the module at that angle.


ODD (Optical Drive Disc)

The illustration shows how to remove the ODD.

Remove ODD

1. Remove 1 rubber pad and 1 screw on the bottom case.

2. Pull out and remove the ODD.


Top Case Module

The illustrations below show how to remove and disassemble the Top Case Module.

Remove the Top Case Module

1. Remove 2 rubber pads and 12 screws on the bottom case.

2. Disconnect the WLAN antenna.

3. Open the latch cover to show 2 cables.

4. Lift up to disconnect the speaker cable and LVDS cable.

5. Use disassembly tool to pry up the sides of the top case.

6. Lift up the top case module and remove it away.


WLAN (WiFi) Module

The illustrations below show how to remove the WLAN Module from the notebook.

Remove WLAN Module

1. Remove 1 screw on the WLAN card.


Thermal Module

The illustrations below show how to remove the Thermal Module from the notebook.

1. Remove 10 screws on the thermal module. Disconnect the thermal fan cable.

2. Lift up and remove the tape on the back of the thermal fan module and take the thermal module away.


Motherboard Module

The illustrations below show how to disassemble and remove the Motherboard Module.

Remove the Motherboard Module

1. Remove 3 screws on the main board and disconnect 5 cables.

2. Disconnect the PWR FFC and DC_IN cable and TP FFC.

3. Disconnect 2 keyboard FPCs.

4. Take the main board away.

5. Turn the non-removable screw here 180 degrees counter-clockwise to loosen the CPU. Take the CPU away.


LCD Module

The illustrations below show how to remove and disassemble the LCD Module of the notebook.

Removing the LCD Module

1. Remove 4 screws on the LCD hinges.

3. Take the LCD module away

4. Remove 2 rubber pads and 2 screws on LCD front bezel.

5. Use disassembly tool to pry up the edge of the bezel.

6. And take the LCD front bezel away.

7. Remove 6 screws on the LCD module.

8. Remove 2 rubber pads from the hinges.

9. Turn over the LCD panel.

10. Disconnect the LVDS cable.

11. Remove 8 screws on LCD hinges.
