Disassembly Process

ASUS X502 (X502C, X502CA, X502S, X502SA) Series Notebook consists of various modules. This chapter describes the procedure for the complete notebook disassembly. In addition, in between procedures, the detailed disassembly procedure of individual modules will be provided for your needs.

The disassembly procedure consists of the following steps:

  • Bottom Case Module
  • LED Board
  • HDD Module
  • Motherboard
  • Thermal Tunnel & Fan
  • Battery Module
  • LCD Module

Bottom Case Module

The illustration below shows how to remove the bottom case module.

Remove Bottom Case Module

1. Remove 11 screws (4 screws of M2*5, 7 screws of M2*8.5) on the bottom case.

2. Use disassembly tool to pry up the sides of the top case.

3. Pry up the top case at 45°and disconnect the TP FFC & keyboard FPC.


HDD Module

The illustration shows how to remove the HDD Module.

Remove HDD Module

1. Disconnect the power cable.

2. Remove 4 screws(4 screws of M2*5)on the HDD module.

3. Remove the HDD toward the arrow direction and take it away.

4. Remove 4 screws(4 screws of M3*3)on the bracket.


Motherboard 

The illustrations below show how to remove the motherboard.

Removing the main board

1. Disconnect the LED FFC.

2. Tear off 1 tape.

3. Disconnect the speaker cable.

4. Disconnect the IO FFC.

5. Tear off 1 tape and disconnect the LVDS cable.

6. Disconnect the antenna cable

7. Remove 5 screws (5 screws of M2*5) on the main board.

8. Take the main board away.


Thermal Module Assy & Fan

The illustrations below show how to separate the Thermal module assy & Fan

Separate Thermal module assy & Fan

1. Remove 1 screws (1 screws of M2*5) on the WLAN card.

2. Take the WLAN card away.

3. Tear off 1 tape.

4. Disconnect the fan cable.

5. Remove 6 screws (6 screws of M2*5) on the thermalmodule.

6. Take the Thermalmodule assy & Fan away.

7. Tear off 1 tape and disconnect Thermal Tunnel with Fan.


Battery Module

The illustrations below show how to remove and disassemble the battery.

Removing the battery module

1. Remove 4 screws (4 screws of M2*5) on the battery.

2. Take the battery away.


LCD Module

The illustrations below show how to remove and disassemble the LCD Module of the notebook.

Removing the LCD Module

1. Remove 5 screws (4 screws of M2.5*5, 1 screw of M2*5) on the LCD hinges.

2. Remove the hinge cape toward the right and take it away.

3. Remove 2 rubber pads and 2 screws(2 screws of M2.5*5) on LCD front bezel.

4. Use disassembly tool to pry up the edge of the bezel.And take the LCD front bezel away.

5. Remove 6 screws (2 screws of M2*4, 4 screws of M2.5*5) on LCD brackets and take the brackets away.

6. Remove 4 screws (4 screws of M2*4) on the LCD module.

7. Lift up the LCD module.

8. Tear off 1 tape and disconnect the LVDS cable.
