Disassembly Process

Asus Zenbook UX32 ( UX32A, UX32LA, UX32LN, UX32VD ) Series Notebook consists of various modules. This chapter describes the procedure for the complete notebook disassembly. In addition, in between procedures, the detailed disassembly procedure of individual modules will be provided for your needs.

The disassembly procedure consists of the following steps:

  • Bottom Case
  • Battery & Speaker
  • Memory
  • HDD
  • WLAN (WiFi) Module
  • Thermal Fan module
  • Motherboard
  • LCD Module

Bottom Case

The illustration below shows how to remove the bottom case.

Remove bottom case

1. Remove 10 screws (10 screws of M2*2.5) from the bottom case.

2. Use disassembly tool to pry up the side of the bottom case.

3. Take the bottom case away.


Battery & Speaker

The illustration shows how to remove the battery & speaker.

1. Remove 6 screws (1 screw of M2*4 , 1 screw of M2*6 , 4 screws of M2*3) from the battery.

2. Lift up to disconnect the battery cable.

3. Disconnect the speaker cables.

4. Remove the battery & speakers. Tear off and separate 2 speakers from the battery, and take the battery away.


Memory

The illustrations below show how to remove the memory from the notebook.

1. Pull 2 latches here to pop the Memory module up at 45 angles. And take the memory away.


HDD

The illustrations below show how to remove the HDD from the notebook.

1. Remove 4 screws (4 screws of M2*3) from HDD.

2. Remove the HDD out of the slot.

3. Remove 4 screws (4 screws of M3*3) to separate the brackets from the HDD.


IO Board

The illustrations below show how to remove and disassemble the IO board module of the notebook.

Removing the IO board

1. Pry up 2 black latches to remove the IO FFC from main board and IO board.

2. Remove 2 screws (2 screws of M2*4) from the IO board.

4. Pry up to tear off the battery and take the IO board away.


WLAN Module

The illustrations below show how to remove the WLAN Module from the notebook.

1. Tear off 2 tapes from the antenna cable.

2. Lift up to disconnect the antenna cables.

3. Remove 2 screws (2 screws of M2*3) from the WLAN card. Remove the WLAN card.


Thermal Fan Module

The illustrations below show how to disassemble and remove the Thermal Fan Module.

1. Remove 2 thermal fan.

2. Remove 3 screws (3 screws of M2*4) from the thermal CPU fan,disconnect the fan cable and take the fan away.

3. Remove 3 screws (3 screws of M2*4) from the thermal VGA fan, disconnect the fan cable and take the fan away.

4. Remove 6 screws (6 screws of M2*2.5)from the thermal module assy.

5. And then take the thermal module assy away.


Motherboard Module

The illustrations below show how to disassemble and remove the Main board Module.

Remove the main board

1. Disconnect the keyboard FPC, TP FFC, LVDS cable one by one.

2. Tear off 1 tape from the keyboard FPC.

3. Pull the white latch toward the arrow direction to release the FPC and remove the FPC.

4. Pull the black latch to release the keyboard FFC, pry up the black latch to release the TP FFC.

5. Lift up to disconnect the LVDS cable.

6. Remove 12 screws (7 screws of M2*4, 5 screws of M1.2*2) from the main board.

7. Remove the keyboard FPC and take the main board away.


LCD Module

The illustrations below show how to remove and disassemble the anti-dust LCD Module of the notebook.

Removing the anti-dust LCD Module

1. Tear off the tapes and remove the screws from the LCD hinges.

2. Tear off 1 tape and remove 3 screws (3 screws of M2*6) from the hinge.

3. Tear off 1 tape from the hinge and remove 3 screws (3 screws of M2*6) from the hinge.

4. Lift up the top case and separate the top case from the LCD module.

5. Then take the anti-dust LCD module away.
