Disassembly Process

Lenovo IdeaPad Y530 Notebook consists of various modules. This chapter describes the procedures for the complete notebook disassembly. In addition, in between procedures, the detailed disassembly procedure of individual modules will be provided for your needs.

The disassembly procedure consists of the following steps:

  • Battery Module
  • HDD Module
  • TV (3G) Module
  • Optical Drive Module
  • CPU Module
  • VGA/HDMI Module
  • Memory Module
  • Wireless (Wi-Fi) LAN Module
  • Modem Module
  • Keyboard Module
  • Top Case Module
  • Motherboard Module

Battery Module

The illustration below shows how to remove the Battery Module.

Removing Battery Module

1. Turn the notebook over. Unlock and hold the latch, and remove the battery.


HDD Module

The illustrations below show how to remove the HDD Module from the notebook.

1. Remove one screw M2.5*4 and take the HDD cover away.

2. Pull out the HDD and lift it away.


TV or 3G Module

The illustrations below show how to remove the TV or 3G Module from the notebook.

1. Disconnect the TV antenna from the TV card and remove 2 screws M2*3 on it. Then take the TV card away.


ODD (Optical Disc Drive) Module

The illustrations below show how to remove the ODD Module from the notebook.

1. Remove 2 screws M2.5*4 and put the screw driver into the slot and push, then pull the ODD out of the notebook.


FAN Module

The illustrations below show how to remove the FAN Module from the notebook.

Separate FAN module

1. Remove 1 screw M2.5*9 and another 3 screws M2.5 on FAN cover and take the cover away.

2. Disconnect the fan cable and remove 1 screw M2.5*7 on the fan. Then take the fan away.

3. For the discrete VGA card ,you should remove 6 screws M2*3 on heat sink and then take the heat sink away.


VGA Module

The illustrations below show how to remove the VGA Module from the notebook.

1.  Remove 2 screws M2*3 on VGA card and then take the card away. 


Memory Module

The illustrations below show how to remove the Memory Module from the notebook.

1. Pull two latches and pop the Memory module up to the 45°angles, and then pulling out the module in that angle.


Wireless (Wi-Fi) LAN Module

The illustrations below show how to remove the Wireless LAN Module from the notebook.

1. Remove 2 screws M2*3 and 3 antennas here, pop the module up to a 45º angles, and then pulling out the module in that angle.


Modem Module

The illustrations below show how to remove the Modem Module from the notebook.

1. Remove 2 screws M2*3 on modem card and disconnect the modem cable, then take the modem card away.


Keyboard Module

The illustrations below show how to remove the Keyboard Module from the notebook.

1. Lift up the keyboard cover and put it in front of top case. Disconnect the LED cable and lauch board cable. Then take the keyboard cover away.

2. Lift up the keyboard and lay it in front of top case then disconncet the keyboard FPC . Now take the keyboard away.

Removing Keyboard Cable

1. Use a flexible connector tool to unlock the cable connector on both ends (no. 1).

2. Carefully pull out the keyboard cable (no. 2) with a pair of tweezers.

3. Lock the connector (no. 3) again to avoid possible breakage.

 

 


Top Case Module

The illustrations below show how to remove the Top Case Module from the notebook.

Disassembling Top Case Module

1. Remove the two dummy cards from the notebook.

2. Remove 22 screws on bottom case and disconnect the DC-IN cable.

Disconnect the DC-IN cable

3. Disconnect the launch board FPC, speaker cable, touchpad FPC and remove one screw M2.5*4 on top case.  Take the top case away.


Motherboard Module

The illustrations below show how to remove the Motherboard Module from the notebook.

Disassembling Motherboard Module

1. Remove one piece of CU foil.

2. Disconnect the battery cable and take the CMOS battery away.

3. Unscrew and remove 4 screws (M2*3,M2.5*4) on IO board. Then disconnect the speaker cable and MIC cable. Take the IO board away after all the cables disconnected.

4. Disconnect the LAN board cable with motherboard. Remove 2 screws (M2.5*4) on LAN board and take the LAN board away. Disconnect the coaxial cable. Take the motherboard away.

 Take the motherboard away.
