Disassembly Process
ASUS ZenFone 5 (A500KL) consists of various modules. This chapter describes the procedures for the complete A500KL disassembly. In addition, in between procedures, the detailed disassembly procedure of individual modules will be provided for your needs.
The disassembly procedure consists of the following steps:
- Battery Cover
- Middle Cover
- Main Board
- Camera Module
- Battery Module
Battery Cover
The illustrations below show how to remove the battery cover from the A500KL.
1. Please try to use thumb to pry open the battery cover from the connect port.
Middle Cover
The illustrations below show how to remove the middle cover from A500KL.
1. Remove 9 longer screws and 4 shorter screws from middle cover assy.
Battery Module
The illustrations below show how to remove the battery from A500KL
1. Disconnect 2 connectors and remove cable from front case (follow the groove).
2. Use plastic blade stick to disconnect the battery connector.
3. Use plier to disconnect the IO FPC and LCD FPC.
4. Remove the Battery module carefully.
Mainboard
The illustrations below show how to remove the mainboard from the A500KL.
1. Use plier to tear the gasket and disconnect TP/sidekey FPC connector and cable.
2. Remove MB from front cover.
Camera Module
The illustrations below show how to remove the camera from the A500KL.
1. Disconnect the rear camera connector and remove it from mainboard.
2. Tear off the gasket and disconnect the front camera FPC by plier and remove the camera.
Sub Board
The illustrations below show how to remove the camera from the A500KL.
1. Remove Sub Board from front case.
2. Remove speaker, vibrator and cable from sub board.
