Disassembly Process

MSI GT60 Series Notebook consists of various modules. This chapter describes the procedure for the complete notebook disassembly. In addition, in between procedures, the detailed disassembly procedure of individual modules will be provided for your needs.

The disassembly procedure consists of the following steps:

  • Battery Module 
  • Memory Module 
  • HDD Module 
  • Wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) Module 
  • Keyboard Module 
  • ODD (Optical Disc Drive) Module 
  • CPU Module
  • FAN Module
  • VGA Module
  • LCD Module 

Battery Module

 The illustration below shows how to remove the Battery Module.

1. Open the battery latch1, and hold the battery latch2 to take the battery away.


HDD Module

The illustrations below show how to remove the HDD Module from the notebook.

1.1. Remove the 11 screws (M2.5*5mm). Then remove the Bottom door.

1.2. Remove the 2 screws (M2.5*5mm), then remove the two HDD Module according to the direction as pic shows. Remove 2 screws on the HDD housing and separate the hard disk and its housing.


FAN Module

The illustrations below show how to separate the FAN module.

1.1. Remove the 7 screw (M2.5*5mm) and FAN cable, after that remove the Fan and thermal module.

1.2. Open the CPU Slot with Screw Driver, then remove CPU Module.


Memory Module / VGA Module

The illustration below shows how to remove the Memory Module and VGA Module from the notebook.

1.1. Pry the 2 latches on the memory to pop up the memory. Then remove the memory.

1.2. Remove 1 screw (M2.5*5mm), then remove the VGA card as pic shows.


ODD (Optical Disc Drive) Module

The illustrations below show how to remove the ODD Module.

1. Remove 1 screw on the bottom case and pull out the ODD module from the compartment.


Wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) Module

The illustration below shows how to remove the Wireless LAN Module from the notebook.

1. Remove the Hinge Cover. Care the Sensor board FPC below the cover. Remove 1 screw (M2*3mm), then remove the two side wireless card antenna as pic shows.


Keyboard Module

The illustration shows how to remove the Keyboard Module form the notebook.

1. Remove 5 screw and remove the Keyboard. Push connector according to the direction as pic shows, then remove the cable.


LCD Module

The illustrations below show how to remove and disassemble the LCD Module.

1. Remove the 2 screws (M2.5*7mm) that stabilize the left LCD hinge and  right LCD hinge.

2. Removing the LCD bezel, should begin from the two sides, then the upside to downside. Remove the 3 screws (M2.5*5mm) that stabilize the left hinge and right hinge.
